MOST COMMON -TOP MOUNT FRIDGES

Top mount fridges feature a freezer compartment positioned above a larger fridge compartment. They are one of the most common types of fridge freezers sold in Australia and are available in a variety of different sizes and external finishes

  • Most top mount fridges are typically quite cheap to purchase and operate.

  • Frozen items are stored at eye level, making them easily accessible.

  • Best suited to small families and couples.

  • Offer a handy balance of freezer and fridge space.


BOTTOM MOUNT

Bottom mount fridges feature a larger fridge compartment positioned above a freezer compartment. The are a popular choice as the fridge compartment, which is typically used more often than the freezer, is located at eye level.

  • The freezer compartments within bottom mount fridges typically have slide-out baskets, making it easy to organise your frozen goods.

  • Best suited to small families and couples.

  • The design offers a handy balance of freezer and fridge space.


SIDE BY SIDE FRIDGES

As the name suggests, side by side fridges consist of two vertical compartments (a freezer compartment and a fridge compartment) that sit side by side. Each compartment has its own door, making accessing your food easy. The smaller size of the doors makes it a good choice for galley kitchens and areas where a large door simply isn’t practical.

  • Side by side fridges generally offer a greater storage capacity than top and bottom mount fridges.

  • Thanks to the side by side design, most food is kept at eye level in both compartments.

  • Good for larger families.

  • Some models also have inbuilt water and ice dispensers.​


FRENCH DOOR FRIDGES

Offering all the benefits of a bottom mount fridge but with greater storage capacity, French door fridges are a good choice for larger families. This design consists of an upper fridge compartment accessed via two side by side doors and a single freezer drawer below.

  • Similar to a bottom mount fridge, the fridge compartment of a French door fridge is located at eye level.

  • The fridge compartment is typically wider than those found in top and bottom mount fridges, offering greater storage space for bulky goods and platters.

  • Good for larger families.

  • Some models also have inbuilt water and ice dispensers.


PIGEON PAIR FRIDGES

Pigeon pair fridges are separate fridge and freezer units that share a matching design. They are not connected to each other in any way.

  • Pigeon pairs offer a greater freezer capacity than other fridge designs.

  • Can be used within different areas of the house if space is limited, but do tend to take up more space when the footprint of both appliances is combined.

  • Can be a good option for larger families that require a greater amount of freezer space.
